The Dubai Ride sign-up form asks for seven things before it lets you in: your email, first name, last name, gender, date of birth, country of residence and nationality.
I know because I filled it in myself. I've registered for Dubai Ride 2026. Signing up is simple, but there are a few small steps that are easy to miss, and if you miss one, you can't ride.
This post covers how to register, which route to pick, where to collect your bib, what time to arrive on the day, and the rules that catch people out. Everything is based on the official 2026 details, plus what I saw while signing up.
What Dubai Ride Is
Dubai Ride is a free, mass cycling event where Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown Dubai close to traffic early in the morning, so thousands of people can ride on roads that are normally full of cars.
It's one of the flagship events of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, a citywide campaign that encourages everyone to do 30 minutes of activity a day for 30 days. The 2026 challenge is the 10th edition, and it runs from 31 October to 29 November.
The ride itself is on Sunday, 1 November 2026. It's big. In 2025, a record 40,327 cyclists took part, and organisers expect even more this year.
How to Register, Step by Step
Registration is free and done online through the official Dubai Fitness Challenge website. Use the official site only, not third-party pages.
Here's how it works.
1. Create your Dubai Fitness Challenge account
You first need an account, and you must be 18 or older to create one. This is the form I mentioned at the start. It asks for:
- Email.
- First name and last name.
- Gender.
- Date of birth. The form specifically asks you to make sure this is accurate.
- Country of residence.
- Nationality.
There's also an optional WhatsApp number field. In my case, the country code was already set to +92 for Pakistan, so if you're registering from abroad or with a different number, check the code before you type.
At the bottom are two tick boxes. The first is optional and asks if you want offers and marketing updates from Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism. The second is required: you must agree to their privacy notice to continue.
2. Verify your email and log in
After submitting, verify your email address and log back in. The Dubai Ride form only opens once your account is active.
3. Choose your route and start gate
This is the important step. You pick either the 4km Downtown route or the 12km Sheikh Zayed Road route, and then your start gate.
Choose carefully. You can't edit your route or gate later. If you change your mind, you have to cancel your registration and register again.
If you're riding with friends, make sure everyone picks the same gate, so you start together.
4. Save your QR code
Once you confirm, you get a registration confirmation with a QR code. Screenshot it and keep it safe. You'll need it to collect your bib.
One thing that confuses people: signing up for the 30-day Dubai Fitness Challenge doesn't automatically book you a place on Dubai Ride. You need to register for the ride separately.
Adding Children
Parents and guardians can register up to three children under their account. Anyone under 18 must ride with an adult.
If your kids are young or new to cycling, the 4km Downtown route is the one to choose.
4km or 12km: Which Route Is Right for You?
Downtown Family Route, 4km
This is a short, flat route through Downtown Dubai, past Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera and the Burj Khalifa. It starts from Gate F in Downtown.
It suits families, children, beginners and anyone who just wants to enjoy the experience without pushing hard. Even at an easy pace, it's a great way to see Downtown without a single car around you.
Sheikh Zayed Road Route, 12km
This is the main route on Sheikh Zayed Road, and it's meant for more experienced cyclists. It includes a climb over the Dubai Canal bridge, which can be tough if you don't ride often.
There are five start gates for this route:
- Gate A at the Museum of the Future.
- Gate B at Al Satwa.
- Gate C at Coca-Cola Arena.
- Gate D at Business Bay.
- Gate E at Lower Financial Street.
Pick the gate that's easiest for you to reach early in the morning, because getting there is half the challenge.
My simple rule: if you haven't ridden 12km in one go recently, choose the 4km route. It's better to enjoy a short ride than struggle on a long one.
Detailed route maps are shared with registered riders, so check your confirmation for the exact route.
Collecting Your Bib
Your bib is your ticket. The rule is simple: no bib, no ride.
Bibs are collected at the Dubai Municipality 30x30 Fitness Village in Zabeel Park, from 28 to 31 October 2026. Collection times are shared during registration.
Bring your registration QR code. If you can't go yourself, a friend or family member can collect it for you by showing your QR code.
Riders also get a free Dubai Ride T-shirt, which you can collect at the same time if you selected one.
Don't leave this until the last day. If something comes up and you miss the collection window, you miss the ride.
Ride Day: The Timeline
Dubai Ride is an early morning event, so plan your sleep the night before.
- 4am to 6am: the recommended time to arrive at your start gate.
- 6:15am: routes open and riders start.
- 7:30am: the latest time to start your ride.
- 8:00am: routes close.
Some reports also give 8:15am as the time roads reopen to traffic. Either way, the event is over before most of the city wakes up.
If you arrive in the dark, put lights on your bike. It helps you stay safe on the way to your gate.
Getting to Your Start Gate
This part needs a plan, because bicycles are not allowed on the Dubai Metro in 2026.
If you're cycling to the start, plan a safe route and leave early.
If you're driving, expect limited parking near the start gates. Paid public parking is the practical option, so arrive early to find a spot.
If you're getting a lift, ask your driver to drop you a little away from the gate area, where traffic is easier.
Roads in and around both routes close on ride day, so check RTA updates closer to the date for closure times and diversions.
The Rules You Need to Know
Bring your own bike. There are no bike rentals at the event, so arrange a bike in advance.
Wear a helmet. Helmets are mandatory for everyone, including children riding in child seats or trailers.
Most bikes are allowed. Road bikes, hybrids, mountain bikes, children's bikes, tandems, pedal-assisted e-bikes, child seats and trailers are all fine.
No e-scooters. Electric scooters and electric motorbikes are not allowed.
Ride at a safe speed. There's a 25km/h speed limit on the route.
Under 18s ride with an adult. No exceptions.
What to Bring on the Day
- Your bib.
- A working bike, with tyres pumped and brakes checked.
- A helmet.
- Closed sports shoes and comfortable clothes.
- A refillable water bottle. There are hydration stations along the route.
- Lights for your bike if you're arriving in the dark.
Keep it light. There's no bag drop or changing area, so don't bring anything you don't want to carry.
See You on Sheikh Zayed Road
Register on the official site, screenshot your QR code, collect your bib before 31 October, and set your alarm early.
I'm registered for this year's ride. If you are too, look out for a sea of cyclists on one of the busiest roads in Dubai, with not a single car in sight.
